About Me
Hello, I’m Jen and I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist.
I have a wide range of experience within the field of mental health dating back to 2009 when I started to support both adults and children with a variety of different mental health issues.
I qualified as a social worker in 2013 and have many years experience of working for a local authority providing early help services to children and families as well as providing statutory services to children and families. Alongside my private practice, I currently work for the NHS as a counsellor, which involves working with adults who have a range of common mental health problems. I have previously worked as an emotional health and wellbeing practitioner with children and young people. I have experience of counselling clients from a local charity MhIST and have also provided counselling to children in schools through Place2Be.
One of the reasons I decided to train as a therapist was due to my own personal difficulties. Having experienced counselling myself and this being hugely beneficial, this increased my passion to want to help others with their difficulties. I have worked with clients on a broad range of issues including depression, low mood, anxiety, low confidence and self-esteem, abuse including emotional, physical, sexual, neglect and domestic abuse, childhood trauma, bereavement, relationship issues, family issues, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. I currently only work with clients 16+. My particular interests are working with young adults 16+ experiencing emotional and mental health issues.
